How is my location used in Onside?
Enabling location use in Onside
A common concern for users new to Onside is tracking when using the Onside app. We've put together this guide to explain exactly how your location could be used in Onside.
Providing your location for the Onside app is completely optional. Choosing to allow your location will enable the features of Onside mentioned below:
- 'Nearby properties'
- Auto-Arrival
- Pinpointing at your location for things such as risks, incidents, and tasks.
- Distance from property when checking in/out in reports (onsite, 200m+, 1km+, or 10km+ away)
- Users can see where they are on the property in relation to the boundary as a blue dot, such as the example in the image to the right, however no one else can see this.
Your location will be captured at the moment of check-in and check-out. This is information is also used by our Auto-arrival feature (if enabled) to determine if you are inside the boundaries of the property. Your location information is never shared or accessible, and only exists in our database for the features and functionality mentioned above.
So rest assured, if you've gone to the local pub after a long day at work, we don't know you're there, and neither does any other Onside user.
