We are delighted to announce funding from Callaghan Innovation and AgMARDT to accelerate development of our biosecurity intelligence technology. The OnSide team will use it to fast-track the development of its world-class intelligence software to fight biosecurity threats.
Biosecurity threats are one of the biggest risks to New Zealand’s primary sector, and therefore our economy. So, we want to apply our technology to provide innovative solutions to counter this problem. Mycoplasma bovis alone could cost the country $1 billion, so, investing in technology that mitigates against such incidents potentially provides a huge return.
OnSide has partnered with US-based scientist Dr Hautahi Kingi to develop the analytical model that underlies their software. This technology will provide capability to predict where biosecurity incursions are most likely appear and the fastest and most cost effective way to management them.
That means our customers can get ahead of the risks and put protection in place, and government agencies are better equipped to respond to threats with testing and other interventions. This builds on the fact that OnSide mobile apps are already used by thousands of farms to manage visitors and potential health and safety risks.
The support of Callaghan Innovation and AgMARDT is an important acknowledgment of our credibility as a technology company and the potential of our biosecurity intelligence solutions to make a real difference to Kiwi farmers and growers.
